Thailand recorded 28.28 million foreign tourist arrivals between January 1 and November 16, 2025, with Malaysia emerging as the leading source market, contributing over 4.06 million visitors to the kingdom, according to Natthriya Taweewong, Permanent Secretary of Thailand's Tourism and Sports Ministry.
The top five source countries were Malaysia, followed by China with 3.95 million visitors, India at 2.11 million, Russia at 1.53 million, and South Korea with 1.34 million arrivals, demonstrating the strength of both short-haul and long-haul travel markets to Thailand.
Foreign tourist arrivals generated approximately 1.31 trillion baht (RM167.8 billion) in tourism revenue during this period, highlighting the sector's crucial role as a key economic driver for the country across hospitality, retail, and transportation industries.
Short-haul markets, particularly Malaysia, continued to perform strongly over the past week, with tourism officials noting the significant contribution of regional travel to Thailand's overall visitor numbers and economic recovery.
Tourist arrivals are expected to rise further in the coming week, supported by consecutive public holidays in Japan and the beginning of the high-season travel period for both short-haul and long-haul markets, as Thailand enters its peak tourism season.
