Viet Nam’s military-run telecom giant Viettel has officially begun construction on one of the largest data centers in Southeast Asia, marking a significant milestone not only for the company’s digital ambitions but also for the region’s growing role in global tech infrastructure, as the demand for secure data storage, cloud services, and high-speed connectivity accelerates across industries.

Located in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park near Ha Noi, this state-of-the-art facility is poised to become Viet Nam’s biggest data center to date, with plans to feature cutting-edge green technologies, advanced cybersecurity systems, and international-standard design that ensures both energy efficiency and scalability for global enterprise clients.

With a total investment of over US$260 million, the project reflects Viettel’s broader vision of turning Viet Nam into a regional digital hub by developing core digital infrastructure that can support artificial intelligence, IoT networks, and hyperscale computing—all crucial elements for driving future economic growth and tech competitiveness.

Company representatives have emphasized that the data center is designed not just as a business asset but as a national strategic resource that will enhance digital sovereignty, strengthen Viet Nam’s cloud ecosystem, and attract foreign investments by offering world-class service capabilities and compliance with top international standards for data management and security.

As groundbreaking proceeds, this ambitious initiative underscores the accelerating pace of digital transformation in Southeast Asia and positions Viettel—and Viet Nam more broadly—as a key player in the evolving landscape of global data services, where reliability, resilience, and regional leadership are becoming just as important as bandwidth and storage capacity.
