Vietnamese automaker VinFast plans to build up to 100,000 EV charging stations across Indonesia, primarily focusing on Java, as part of its strategy to support the country’s growing electric vehicle market.
The company has already committed $200 million to establish a 120-hectare EV manufacturing facility in Subang, West Java, expected to begin production by late 2025, producing 50,000 electric vehicles annually for the domestic market.
VinFast is also exploring investments in renewable energy, such as solar and wind power, while its sister company, Xanh SM, has launched an electric taxi service in Jakarta, with plans to expand to Bali.
The Indonesian government remains open to foreign investment in sustainable infrastructure, aiming to accelerate EV adoption and position the country as a regional hub for electric vehicle production and innovation.
