Top 10 Best Airport Connectivity: Asia Pacific Countries

In the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Index 4.0 2018 in Airport Connectivity section, 140 countries are ranked based on their airports connectivity. The index is based on IATA airport connectivity indicator which measures the degree of integration of a country within the global air transport network.

It is based on the number of available seats offered in flights originating from a country. For each airport, the number of available seats to each destination is weighted by the size of the destination airport (in terms of number of passengers handled). The weighted totals are then summed for all destinations, then for all airports in the country to produce a score.

While US still tops the list, Asia Pacific countries are clearly dominant, putting 6 countries in the world's top 10. They are China, Japan, India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Australia. The other 3 come from Europe; United Kingdom (#6), Germany (#7), and Spain (#8).
