
Malaysia to host 34th SEA Games in 2027, Singapore in 2029

Malaysia will host the 34th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in 2027, the Malaysian Olympic Council said on Thursday (May 12).
The council announced on its verified Facebook page that the Southeast Asian Games Federation had "unanimously awarded" Malaysia the 2027 Games.
It will be the first time in a decade that Malaysia hosts the Games; the previous time was in 2017 in Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia has shown interest in hosting the SEA Games in 2027 after it was announced that Brunei had withdrawn from hosting the event in 2027.
The 31st Southeast Asian Games are now taking place in Hanoi after being postponed from 2021 because to the COVID-19 epidemic. The 32nd Games will be held in Cambodia, while the 33rd will be held in Thailand.
On thursday, Singapore confirmed it would host the 35th Southeast Asian Games in 2029.
