As more Europeans choose long-haul travel, Bangkok, New York, Bali, and Istanbul are most-searched globally

According to eDreams ODIGEO SA, holidaymakers are beginning to book long-haul journeys to Bali and Bangkok as Covid-19 travel restrictions ease, despite the fact that such excursions are becoming more expensive due to rising inflation and a cost of living problem in Europe.

"we're starting to see more long-haul destinations in the top 10 searches," CEO Dana Dunne said in a Madrid interview, adding that domestic flights inside Europe are still the most popular.

According to Dunne, some of the most popular travel locations this year have been Bangkok, New York City, Tokyo, Istanbul, and Bali.

To prepare for the anticipated return to pre-pandemic levels of demand, airlines have been increasing their long-haul capacity in the hopes that governments will lift limitations imposed during the Covid era.

European airlines that had routes to Asia's biggest travel market before the pandemic have restarted services to China since it reopened last month, sparking predictions of a worldwide travel boom.

Travelers are once again making their reservations well in advance, which Dunne takes as a sign of rising confidence and a willingness to lock in costs well in advance of the peak holiday season. Over the course of the pandemic's two years, travelers had been forced to wait until the last minute to make reservations due to the uncertainty of the regulations' stability. The travel agency reported that the typical length of a trip has been the same at up to four days.
