AVERAGE CAPACITY OF AIRLINES (DOMESTIC + INTERNATIONAL)

- With 31.2 million tickets available, South East Asia's overall capacity in February 2023 is still 22% below that of 2019.
- While domestic capacity is only 14% behind 2019, international capacity is 34% below. Domestic capacity is closest to recovery.
- Despite the fact that February's international capacity was lower than January's according to the headline statistics, this was due to February having fewer days. If we account for the difference, the capacity of foreign airlines has grown by 2% month over month.

NUMBER OF SEATS BY NATION

- With a capacity of 5.5 million this month, 7% more than in February 2019, Vietnam remains the only market in South East Asia to have surpassed 2019 levels.
- The next nearest is the Philippines, where airline capacity is currently 91% of February 2019.

THE 10 BEST DOMESTIC ROUTE

- This month's success of the Top 10 Busiest Routes is inconsistent. Four of the Top 10 are increasing month over month when we account for the different amount of days in each month. The two busiest internal routes in Vietnam—Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh and Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh—are two of those that are expanding.
- Manila to Catclan (Borocay) saw an 11% rise in capacity this month when day difference was taken into account, making it the route with the fastest growth compared to last month.

THE BEST 10 INTERNATIONAL ROUTE

- Six of South East Asia's top ten international routes begin or finish in Singapore.
- Kuala Lumpur-Singapore continues to be the largest, despite a reduction in capacity this month to 350,640 places.

AIRPORTS IN THE TOP 10 BY TOTAL SEATS

- The distance between Singapore and Jakarta, the next-largest airport in South East Asia, is closing.
- CGK had 307,000 chairs last month, which is 11% more than Singapore. The disparity between these two major hubs this month is only 170,000 seats.
- Ho Chi Minh, Manila, and Kuala Lumpur all have seats this month that range from 2 to 2.1 million.

RANK 10 AIRPORTS BY INTERNATIONAL SEATS FOR FASTEST GROWTH

- This month, some of the smallest airports in the area have experienced the quickest increase.
- U-Tapao, Krabi, and Chiang Mai have all experienced increase of at least 15% month over month.
- Yogyakarta and Banda Aceh, two small airports in Indonesia, both saw increase this month.

SEATS-BASED RANK 10 AIRLINES

- A number of the Top 10 largest carriers have surpassed their 2019 capacity ranking. This situation also applies to Batik Aviation, Vietjet, and Vietnam Airlines.
- With capacity at 125% of 2019 levels, Batik Aviation is at its fullest recovery. AirAsia is the airline running at the lowest percentage (62% as of February 2019).

THE RANK 10 AIRLINES BY ADDED SEATS

- MY Airline, a new LCC from Malaysia, adds the most seats this month with 141,000, which corresponds to their scheduled schedule for flights to Kota Kinabalu, Langkawi, and Kuching.
- Other airlines that have increased capacity this month are mostly Chinese and located outside of the area, such as Spring Airlines, China Southern, and Xiamen Airlines.
