Singapore Airlines has been named the World's Best Airline at the prestigious World Airline Awards 2023, marking the airline's fifth win in the 23-year history of the aviation industry's 'Oscars'.

The 2023 World Airline Awards were announced at a glittering gala held at the iconic Air and Space Museum at the Paris Air Show (20 June). More than 350 guests from airlines around the world attended the event, with a large number of airline CEOs, presidents and senior management present to receive their awards.

Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, received the prestigious World's Best Airline award in Paris on June 20. Mr. Goh expressed his gratitude to the dedicated staff who worked tirelessly and made sacrifices to enable the airline to excel and recover from the pandemic.

He also expressed his sincere appreciation to the loyal customers whose unwavering support and encouragement enabled Singapore Airlines to move forward during these challenging times. Having weathered the crisis, the airline remains steadfast in its commitment to innovate and invest in the best products and services to ensure an exceptional travel experience for its valued customers.

With a total of 9 awards won at the event, Singapore Airline and Qatar Airways were the big winners at the awards. Singapore Airlines dominated the first class travel awards, winning the World's Best First Class, Best First Class Seat and Best First Class Comfort Facility, as well as the top spot as Asia's Best Airline.

In the meantime, several other Southeast Asian airlines have also joined the race. Garuda Indonesia won the prestigious World's Best Cabin Staff award for the sixth time, cementing its position as the best in the category.

Bangkok Airways, on the other hand, was named Best Regional Airline, a repeat winner and a customer favorite.

Not to be left behind, Malaysian airline Air Asia continues to win the World's Best Low-Cost Airline award, a title it has won every year since 2010.

For your information, the World Airline Awards has been a highly anticipated event since 1999 and is considered the "Oscars" of aviation. Each year, this prestigious list honors the world's top 100 airlines, based on data from an online survey that examines traveler satisfaction. With more than 325 airlines participating, the survey is independent and fair, recognizing the best without bias.
