Singapore has become the first place in Southeast Asia to witness the arrival of the Rolls-Royce Spectre, the luxury marque's first electric car. On August 22, Rolls-Royce unveiled its first fully electric production model, the Spectre, at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre.
Following its debut in Singapore, the state-of-the-art vehicle will tour the region, marking a bold new era for the luxury car brand in Southeast Asia.
Irene Nikkein, Regional Director Asia-Pacific for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said that Singapore plays a very important role in the brand's image in the region. Through the Spectre's futuristic design, intricate interiors and innovative technology, the car truly reflects the modern spirit of Rolls-Royce.
In 2021, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars began the Spectre journey by announcing its historic step into the development of electric mobility. With a commitment to offer a portfolio of fully electric vehicles by 2030, the brand unveiled the Spectre to the public for the first time last October in West Sussex, UK.
The electrified luxury super coupe not only reflects the brand's spirit of innovation, but also has strong historical roots. In 1900, Rolls-Royce co-founder Charles Rolls dreamed of the future of electric motoring after testing an electric vehicle called The Columbia Electric Carriage - and his vision has been realised in the form of Spectre, which combines valuable history with an exciting future direction.
Spectre is not only Rolls-Royce's first electric car, but also the starting point for the brand's journey towards full electrification of its entire portfolio by the end of 2030. Using an electric powertrain, Spectre embodies the essence of the Rolls-Royce driving experience with instant torque, the silence of the ride and the smooth feel of an invisible gearbox, making it a significant step forward.
Relying on a pair of separate synchronous motors, the Spectre produces a total of 577 hp and 900 Nm of torque. With this incredible power, the 2.9-ton luxury coupe is capable of 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. With a 102kWh battery, the Spectre has a range of 530km. It can also be charged from 10-80% in just 34 minutes via a 195kW DC fast charge.
Advanced technology in the form of extruded aluminium and integration of the battery into the structure has resulted in a frame that is 30% stiffer than previous Rolls-Royce models and the battery has the secondary benefit of providing additional acoustic insulation at 700kg.
The interior of the Spectre also incorporates a number of advanced technological features - for the first time in Rolls-Royce production the Spectre can be fitted with Starlight Doors with over 4,796 beautifully soft 'stars'. As with all Rolls-Royce motor cars, the Spectre's interior options offer the customer an almost limitless choice of personalization.
The Spirit of Ecstasy also underwent an intensive design update for the Spectre, resulting in more than 830 hours of design modelling and wind tunnel testing. This also contributes to the Spectre's low coefficient of drag, making it the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce in history.
The Spectre has a starting price of S$2,138,888 SGD. This price will vary depending on the specification chosen, as each Spectre is built to order.
