Good news for travelers from the Philippines, Thailand and Brunei! Taiwan has extended its visa-free policy for passport holders from these three countries from August 1, 2024 to July 2025.

This policy extension is part of the "Trial Visa-Free Program," which demonstrates Taiwan's commitment to strengthening ties with its partner countries under the "New Southbound Policy" and promoting tourism to Taiwan. The announcement was made by Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Consular Affairs Bureau on June 4.

Following a meeting on April 12, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and related agencies reviewed visa policies, including the trial visa-free program for citizens of Thailand, Brunei and the Philippines, the simplification of visa regulations for group tourists from Southeast Asia, and the conditional visa-free policy through the TAC Online Application Scheme for Southeast Asian citizens. Based on the success of these measures, Taiwan has extended the pilot visa-free program for Thailand, Brunei and the Philippines for another year.

Travelers from these countries, with the exception of diplomatic and official/service passport holders, can enjoy this visa-free program for stays of up to 14 days. To enter Taiwan, they must provide proof of accommodation booking, host or sponsor contact information, and sufficient travel funds.

Taiwan also announced the extension of the Simplified Visa Regulation Project for Group Tourists from Southeast Asia until December 31, 2025, and will maintain the Travel Authorization Certificate (TAC) Scheme for Southeast Asian citizens.

The Taiwan MOFA will continue to review and improve visa policies to increase visitor arrivals while ensuring border security and public safety.
