Formula E will return to Jakarta in 2025! This was confirmed by the Formula E social media accounts on June 11, 2024. In the post, it was announced that the 13th round of the electric car race will be held in Jakarta on June 21, 2025.
This marks the return of Formula E to Jakarta after a hiatus in 2024. Previously, Jakarta successfully hosted Formula E in 2022 and 2023, with the first series attracting 60,000 live spectators. In 2023, Jakarta was even selected to host two rounds of the race.
The Jakarta Formula E event, originally scheduled for June 8, 2024, was canceled because it coincided with Indonesia's presidential election in June 2024.
FIA Formula E, as the organizer, confirmed the cancellation on its official website. Nevertheless, the FIA is still exploring the possibility of finding an alternative date to hold Formula E in Jakarta.
Next season, Jakarta will be one of four Asian cities to host the electric car race, along with Saudi Arabia, Japan and China. The Jakarta Formula E event, also known as the Jakarta E-Prix, will be held at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC) in Ancol, North Jakarta.
The upcoming Formula E season will feature exciting updates, including the use of the latest race car, the Formula E Gen 3 Evo. This car is said to have 30 percent faster acceleration than Formula 1 cars.
The Gen 3 Evo is an evolution of the third generation car that will be used starting in the 2023 season. Its performance is expected to provide a more exciting and exhilarating racing experience for Formula E fans.
