AirAsia has once again achieved a remarkable feat by being named the World's Best Low-Cost Airline by Skytrax for the fifteenth consecutive year. This victory cements AirAsia as the benchmark for low-cost carriers worldwide, outperforming over 300 other airlines in the Skytrax World Airline Awards.

The Skytrax World Airline Awards, considered the Oscars of the airline industry, are based on the votes of 21 million passengers from more than 100 countries. More than 350 airlines participated in the survey, which was conducted between September 2023 and May 2024, underscoring Skytrax's extensive reach and prestige.

Voting for the Skytrax World Airline Awards is based on several factors that affect passenger safety and comfort, including cabin crew friendliness and efficiency, seat comfort and cabin cleanliness, food and beverage quality, and overall value for money.

Established in 1999, Skytrax awards these honors to airlines chosen directly by travelers, making it a prestigious Passenger Choice Award.

While Malaysia's AirAsia won the overall award for Best Low Cost Airline for 2024, AirAsia X, AirAsia's long-haul subsidiary, ranked 6th in the Best Long Haul Airline category. AirAsia X operates long-haul flights from three hubs in Asia: Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Bali. The airline flies to 29 destinations in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East and even Hawaii. Notably, it is the first Southeast Asian airline to be approved by the Federal Aviation Administration to fly to the United States.
