Empowering ASEAN Creators: ASEAN Foundation Teams Up with TikTok to Launch New Initiative

On the occasion of the 57th ASEAN Day, the ASEAN Foundation and TikTok launched the "ASEAN LIVE Creators for Change" program at the ASEAN Secretariat. This program aims to empower content creators in the ASEAN region by using TikTok livestreaming to promote important issues such as education, entrepreneurship, environment and tourism.

Through this initiative, 20 content creators from ten ASEAN countries will be selected to share information and raise awareness on regional issues through their ability to create engaging narratives and connect with audiences.

Rewards for Selected Content Creators

Selected content creators will host TikTok Live sessions for six months and will receive a grant to support their activities. Before starting, they will plan and select topics based on their expertise and interests. 

TikTok will also provide training to improve content quality, including safety on TikTok Live and adherence to community guidelines. In addition, they will receive specific insights about ASEAN to attract more viewers and increase awareness.

Throughout the program, the 20 selected content creators will be closely monitored and evaluated. At the end of the program, three winners will be selected to receive cash prizes.

Strengthening ASEAN Ties and Identity

Through this program, the ASEAN Foundation also aims to strengthen the bonds among ASEAN citizens and deepen the ASEAN identity. The program leverages TikTok Live as a platform for engaging and inclusive learning, while encouraging content creators to highlight relevant socio-cultural issues in the ASEAN region.

Dr. Piti Srisangnam, Executive Director of the ASEAN Foundation, expressed his excitement at the launch of the ASEAN LIVE Creators for Change program with TikTok, which provides content creators from ten ASEAN countries with an opportunity to showcase the benefits of the ASEAN community and create an online space for the exchange of ideas. 

Jane Sea, Head of Trust & Reputation at TikTok Live, added that this program reflects TikTok's commitment to using livestreaming as a social policy tool, with the hope that content creators in Southeast Asia will produce impactful content and build engaged communities.
