Call for Projects - 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations Between France and Indonesia

The French Embassy - Institut Français d’Indonésie is the cultural network of the French Embassy in Indonesia, East Timor, and with ASEAN. Its role is to promote French culture and language through various means, with a focus on partnership-based approaches.

To commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations between France and Indonesia, the French Embassy - Institut Français d'Indonésie invites cultural, artistic, and educational project leaders from across Indonesia to submit proposals for activities to be held in 2025.

This initiative aims to support projects that promote cultural exchange between the two nations, incorporating various disciplines and forms of artistic expression. A total of 10 selected projects will have the opportunity to bring this creative collaboration to life.

Support and Assistance Offered
Participants in the initiative will benefit from several forms of support:

  • Event Labeling and Promotion: Inclusion in a brochure, a dedicated website, social media, and media partner platforms.
  • Technical and Logistical Support: Provision of venues, equipment, and technical resources for event implementation.
  • Financial Support (limited number of projects): Funding up to 50% of the total project budget, capped at 10 million Indonesian Rupiah per project.

 

Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

  • Have an artistic and/or research practice in the fields of visual arts, performing arts, performance, video games, music and sound research, writing, fashion, design, architecture/urbanism, museology, as well as digital arts, photography, cinema, audiovisual arts, comic arts, culinary arts, intangible heritage, and craftsmanship. Interdisciplinary projects or those integrating collaborative practices or emerging technologies will also be considered.
  • Demonstrate at least five years of professional artistic activity.
  • Be able to communicate in English or French.

 

The jury, composed of members of IFI and Indonesian cultural figures, will focus on the following criteria:

  • Quality and relevance of the artistic project, including its reach within Indonesian territories.
  • List of partners, pre-established contacts, and the methodology for project implementation.
  • Contribution to building a collective FR/ID imagination and the potential for project continuation.
  • Visibility and communication plan.

Applicants may be invited to an interview with the jury to provide more details about their projects.

  • Artistic Portfolio: Including resumes of project leaders and their past experiences.
  • Detailed Intent Letter: In French or English (4 to 5 pages), including a provisional budget and communication plan.
  • List of Partners: With a brief presentation of their roles in the project.

 

Submission Deadline:

Applications must be submitted by January 17, 2025, at 11:59 PM.

 

Provisional Timeline:

  • December 11: Official launch and start of communication.
  • Mid-December to Mid-January: Project submission period.
  • End of January: Project selection committee.
