Arsenal suffered a defeat in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal, which took place at Emirates Stadium in London on Wednesday (30/4). The Gunners, who were the home team, lost 0-1 to the visiting Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
PSG's only goal was scored by their winger Ousmane Dembele (4’). This goal marked Dembele's seventh in the Champions League.
This victory serves as a valuable asset for PSG as they head into the second leg. Next week (8/5), it will be Les Parisiens' turn to host at Parc des Princes in Paris.
For Arsenal, this loss marks the end of their unbeaten streak against PSG. In the previous five encounters, the English capital club had achieved two victories and three draws.
However, PSG's victory came at a high cost. The goal-scoring winger Dembele had to be substituted in the 70th minute by PSG's coach Luis Enrique.
“Ousmane Dembele will undergo further medical examination after the match. It doesn't seem to be a serious issue, but we will ensure his condition to see if he can play in next week's match,” Enrique said, as quoted by ESPN.
