Who doesn’t know the renowned statue of Christ the Redeemer, located in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil? This incredible statue of Jesus that seems to keeping watch to the city from above is world-famous and attracting millions of tourists every year. Being so iconic, this stunning statue has drawn many inspirations and you can find a lot of its replicas worldwide, including in Indonesia.
Jesus Blessing Monument, Manado, North Sulawesi

Even though Christians are a minority in Indonesia, you can find several Jesus statues, similar to Christ the Redeemer, in this country. One of the most famous ones is located in Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi Province. The statue is built with Jesus looks like that he’s levitating, perched dramatically on a hillside.
The statue itself is 30 meters tall, with 20 meters of pedestal which makes its total height is 50 meters. What makes it even more unique is this statue is located inside a luxurious housing complex called Citraland. But visitors can freely visit this statue easily because it’s only 15 minutes from the city center, and you don’t have to buy a ticket.
Built in 2010, this statue is recognized for its unique forward-leaning posture as if Jesus is descending from the sky to bless the city. It is one of the tallest statues in Southeast Asia and draws both pilgrims and tourists.
Christ King of Peace, Mansinam Island, West Papua
In Papua, you can also find a Jesus statue with a striking resemblance of Christ the Redeemer. Located about 6 kilometers from Manokwari, specifically on a Mansinam Island, there’s a Christ King of Peace statue, with the height of 14.5 meters.
Unlike the one in Manado, this statue is really similar to Christ the Redeemer with Jesus’ hands widely outstretched. It was opened in 2014 to commemorate the arrival of two German missionaries on the island in 1855. Carl Willhelm Ottow and Johann Gottlob Geissler were the ones who first sparked Christianity on the entirety of Papua.
Jesus Buntu Burake, Toraja, South Sulawesi

Still on the eastern part of Indonesia, now we’re coming to Toraja which also has a very significant number of Christians. The statue is located on Buntu Burake and has an amazing height of 40 meters, which makes it taller than Christ the Redeemer itself.
Not only that, if combined with the hill’s height which is around 1.700 meters above sea level, this statue is the tallest Jesus statue in the whole world. Made from bronze by an artist from Yogyakarta named Supriadi, this statue was officially opened to visitors on 23 December 2018, right before Christmas Eve.
Jesus Statue, Sibea-bea, North Sumatra

Not only on the eastern part, you can also find a large Jesus statue on the western part of Indonesia. North Sumatera has a large number of Christians, and you can find numerous religious sites, including a 61-meter-tall Jesus statue near Lake Toba, on a hill called Sibea-bea
This statue is almost brand new since it was officially opened for visitors only on 24 September 2024 after construction started in 2018. Located on a hill facing the famous Lake Toba, you can also enjoy the breathtaking view of the largest volcanic lake in the world.
