Thai food is generally characterized by its spicy, aromatic, and complex flavors. Usually the most prominent taste is sour. That sour taste in Thai food usually comes from tamarind. Philippines: Strong and Unique
Filipino cuisine is influenced by Malay, Chinese, and Spanish cultures. This gives each dish a unique flavor. The combination of sweet, sour, and salty flavors is a hallmark of their cuisine. A Filipino comfort food well-known to international tourists is Adobo (chicken marinated in vinegar and soy sauce).
Vietnam: Fresh and Aromatic
Vietnamese cuisine is known for its use of herbs and fresh vegetables, combined with spices such as basil, cardamom, and peppermint. A key element of Vietnamese cuisine is the integration of the five traditional flavor elements (spicy, sour, bitter, salty, and sweet) to create a balanced flavor. The most famous Vietnamese dish is Pho (traditional soup).
Southeast Asian food always has a distinctive flavor due to the unique spices found in this region. Some essential spices often used in cooking are fish sauce, sweet soy sauce, and coconut milk as a substitute for cream.
