Good Creators Academy (GCA) Malaysia held its first Offline Bootcamp from June 3 to 5, 2026, at Travelodge Kuala Lumpur City Centre. The three-day program brought together the Top 15 finalists of GCA Malaysia 2026 for a series of practical challenges, industry visits, educational sessions, and networking activities designed to strengthen their storytelling, creativity, and digital communication skills.
The bootcamp marked the first flagship initiative born from the strategic collaboration between LOCCO Malaysia and Seasia, one of Southeast Asia’s leading positive news platforms and communities.
The idea originated from a similar creator development program previously conducted by Good News From Indonesia (GNFI) and Seasia in Indonesia, which was later adapted for Malaysian youth in response to the growing need for responsible digital narratives across the region.
Creating Meaningful Content, Not Just Following Trends
At a time when social media increasingly shapes public discourse, GCA encourages young creators to move beyond chasing trends and virality and instead focus on producing content that informs, inspires, and contributes positively to society.
According to the organizers, the bootcamp is not the closing chapter of GCA Malaysia 2026 but the beginning of a larger regional movement.
"What starts with 15 young creators today can grow into a wider ecosystem of creators, mentors, institutions and organisations working together to make the digital space more constructive and impactful for everyone," the organisers said.
The program was also designed to expose participants to the responsibilities that come with being a creator, including authenticity, ethics, creativity, and community impact, within a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Learning Directly from the Industry
Over the three days, participants engaged directly with industry practitioners, brands, media professionals, and academic institutions. The agenda included creator challenges with SILKYGIRL and SG Men, focused group discussions, and academic sessions with the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
Participants also explored the cultural and heritage side of Kuala Lumpur before taking part in a special visit to Angkasapuri Kota Media, where they gained firsthand insight into Malaysia’s national broadcasting and news ecosystem.
A number of strategic partners supported the inaugural bootcamp, including UiTM, Kuala Lumpur Hop-On Hop-Off, SILKYGIRL, SG Men, PRO Apparel, KL City Gallery, Menara Kuala Lumpur, and Hameediyah.
From One Country to Across Borders
GCA was first launched in 2025 before expanding to Malaysia in 2026, and the program is planned to be held annually in both countries going forward.
The organizers hope that the collaboration between LOCCO and Seasia will pave the way for more cross-border initiatives, creator exchange programs, educational projects, and regional campaigns that celebrate Southeast Asian stories while promoting responsible content creation.
As GCA Malaysia 2026 enters its final stage, the organizers hope the experience will inspire participants to become ambassadors of positive storytelling and demonstrate that meaningful content can be just as powerful, engaging, and influential as any viral trend.
