BINUS University has secured a place among the top 200 universities in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2027. It is one of 12 Indonesian universities to enter the list and the only private institution among them.
The results were announced during the QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific 2026 in Bali.
A Position Maintained Since 2019
BINUS first participated in the QS World University Rankings in 2019.
The university states that it has since consistently maintained its position as the highest-ranked private university in Indonesia in the QS Asia rankings, and that the latest achievement reflects its continued commitment to educational quality and to strengthening its regional competitiveness.
According to the university, its efforts are directed at education that is oriented not only toward academic achievement but also toward the needs of the workforce.
Rector Dr. Nelly, S.Kom., M.M., expressed her appreciation to the entire academic community, who have built BINUS together up to the present day, and stated that the result would further motivate the university.
“This outcome motivates us to continue improving the quality of education and to promote relevant innovation”, Dr. Nelly said.
BINUS intends to strengthen its collaboration with industry and international partners and to develop a learning environment that optimally supports students and enhances its global competitiveness.
Three Approaches Supporting Educational Quality
Dr. Nelly outlined three approaches that BINUS continues to develop.
The first is strengthening collaboration with industry. The university is currently supported by more than 2,200 industry partners across various sectors, which, according to the university, supports students’ learning experience and helps them develop competencies aligned with workforce requirements.
The second is the Enrichment Program, through which students gain experience outside the classroom via professional internships, research, entrepreneurship, community service, and overseas study. The university states that this experience complements academic learning and supports students’ readiness for the professional world.
The third is the 2+1+1 program, a cross-campus learning model in which students complete two years at their home campus, one year at a BINUS campus in another city, and one year in the Enrichment Program. BINUS states that the scheme enables students to broaden their academic experience and develop interdisciplinary competencies.
Dr. Nelly emphasized that higher education institutions must continue to adapt to change so that the education they provide remains relevant.
BINUS periodically evaluates and develops its approach to learning and remains open to cross-sector collaboration, so that students acquire competencies in line with industry developments and are prepared to face future challenges.
