Singapore could one day have its own spaceport, as Virgin Galactic considers expanding its commercial spaceflight operations to new locations—and the country meets all the necessary criteria.

Right now, a ticket to space costs a hefty $810,000 per person, and two Singaporeans are already on the waitlist for the two-hour journey, which includes just a few minutes of weightlessness nearly 90 km above Earth.

But space tourism is just the beginning—both Virgin Galactic and SpaceX are eyeing a future where suborbital point-to-point travel could drastically cut international flight times, allowing passengers to launch from one country, touch the edge of space, and land in another in under an hour.

Elon Musk even teased that SpaceX’s future "Earth to Earth" system could fly people from Tokyo to Singapore in just 28 minutes or from Sydney in 31, hinting at a future where long-haul flights could become a thing of the past.
