Ascend Airways Malaysia, a subsidiary of the UK-based brand, plans to commence operations in Malaysia in late 2025 with a fleet of two Boeing 737-800s and four Boeing 737 MAX 8s.
The airline is currently pursuing its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) certification and awaiting approval from the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) before it can operate as a provider of aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance services for cargo and passenger transportation.
As part of Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI service provider, Ascend Airways Malaysia aims to support the country’s aviation infrastructure by offering leasing solutions to airlines, tour operators and other organizations.
Unlike other new airlines that have struggled to survive amidst competition from Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia, Ascend Airways Malaysia is optimistic that it can thrive with a strategy of sharing fleet capacity with its UK partner to ensure reliable and sustainable service.
