The Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster, plans to introduce a new regional regulation banning foreign tourists from using motorcycles in Bali to improve road safety and order.
This decision comes in response to frequent traffic violations by tourists, including riding without helmets, driving against traffic, and lacking proper licenses, which have led to numerous accidents.
While the move has gained support from locals and public transport operators, it also raises concerns among motorcycle rental businesses and tourists who prefer exploring Bali independently.
To counterbalance the restriction, the government is expected to enhance public transportation, introduce app-based transport services, and provide eco-friendly alternatives like electric bicycles to ensure that tourists can still navigate the island conveniently.
