China has officially launched a new “ASEAN Visa” to facilitate easier travel for citizens of Southeast Asian countries, including Timor-Leste.
The initiative is aimed at boosting cross-border mobility, particularly for business travelers, entrepreneurs, and professionals within the region.
According to China’s National Immigration Administration, the visa will simplify application procedures and promote regional economic integration.
This move aligns with Beijing’s broader strategy to strengthen ties with ASEAN and support trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges.
Experts say the ASEAN Visa could significantly enhance regional connectivity and position China as a key partner in Southeast Asia’s post-pandemic recovery.
