TIME magazine has recognized Hồ Chí Minh City’s first metro line, the Bến Thành–Suối Tiên route, as one of the world’s greatest places in 2025, highlighting its transformative impact on urban mobility and tourism in Viet Nam.
Spanning nearly 20 kilometers with underground and elevated sections, the $1.72 billion project features 17 modern trains, each accommodating up to 930 passengers, allowing both locals and tourists to bypass traffic congestion and easily access key landmarks like the Hồ Chí Minh City Opera House, Nguyễn Huệ pedestrian street, and Bùi Viện nightlife district.
This recognition places Hồ Chí Minh City among other notable Asian destinations like Japan’s Nintendo Museum, China’s Beijing Library, and Mongolia’s Eagle Hunter Cultural Center, further solidifying Viet Nam’s appeal to international travelers.
With its efficient transport system, growing tourist infrastructure, and increasing global recognition, Hồ Chí Minh City’s metro line is set to enhance the city's reputation as a top travel destination while also boosting local economic and tourism development.
