Indonesia AirAsia will launch daily direct flights between Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport and Melbourne Airport starting March 20, 2026, marking the airline's fourth Australian destination after Perth, Darwin, and Adelaide.
Captain Achmad Sadikin Abdurachman, Acting CEO of Indonesia AirAsia, stated that "this strategic launch strengthens Indonesia AirAsia's presence in Australia and opens a key gateway connecting Southeast Asia to southern Australia," with the daily Melbourne-Denpasar route reflecting the airline's goal to provide greater, more affordable, and flexible access between Indonesia and Australia.
According to Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency, Australians comprised more than 23 percent of Bali's 3.9 million international arrivals between January and July 2025—a 12% year-on-year increase—making Australia the largest source of foreign visitors to Bali.
To celebrate the launch, AirAsia is offering special promotional fares from Melbourne to Bali starting at AUD 199 one way, with Fly-Thru deals from Melbourne to Singapore (via Bali) starting at AUD 296 one way.
The new route will provide Australian travelers with connecting options to explore Indonesia's top destinations via the Denpasar hub, including Jakarta, Balikpapan, Banjarmasin, Surabaya, Lombok, and Labuan Bajo—the gateway to Komodo National Park—while Indonesian travelers will gain easier access to Melbourne and wider Victoria.
