Indonesia, China roll out cross-border QR payments to boost financial ties

Bank Indonesia officially launched cross-border QRIS payments with China. Travelers from both nations can now scan and pay using their local currency apps.

This boosts financial ties and advances the dedollarization drive by cutting reliance on the US dollar, easing daily transactions for tourists and merchants.

BI Governor Perry Warjiyo emphasized that this digital linkage will significantly enhance tourism, economic cooperation, and bilateral trade.
