Indonesia officially submitted Tempe Culture, Mak Yong Theatre, and Jaranan to UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, after going through a long process involving cultural communities, academics, and local governments.

Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, emphasized that this submission is not just an achievement, but a real step to preserve Indonesia's cultural heritage so that it remains sustainable and known to the world, including through international cooperation with Malaysia and Suriname.

Tempe or tempeh is recognized as part of the national cultural identity that has historical value, while Mak Yong Theatre was submitted through a cultural extension mechanism with Malaysia, and Jaranan was submitted with Suriname as a symbol of close cultural relations.

In addition, Indonesia also supports Brunei Darussalam in the extension of Pantun to UNESCO, in line with efforts to strengthen cultural diplomacy and ensure that shared cultural heritage continues to develop for future generations.
