The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) of Indonesia has temporarily suspended TikTok Pte Ltd’s Electronic System Operator Registration Certificate (TDPSE).

According to Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar, TikTok violated its obligations as a private electronic system operator. The suspension is a follow-up action after TikTok only provided partial data on TikTok Live activities during protests held between August 25–30, 2025.

Komdigi had requested detailed data regarding traffic, livestream activities, and monetization, including gifts, due to suspected links with online gambling. TikTok was summoned on September 16, 2025, and given until September 23 to submit the required data. However, in its official response, TikTok cited internal policies and said it could not provide the requested information.

Komdigi stressed that the request was in line with Article 21 of Ministerial Regulation No. 5/2020, which obligates private operators to provide access to electronic systems and data for government oversight.

Alexander emphasized that the government’s actions go beyond administrative measures. The aim is to protect Indonesian citizens from the risks of digital misuse and ensure digital transformation remains safe, fair, and secure. He underlined that all private operators must comply with national law and that Komdigi will continue to strengthen oversight of all registered platforms.

TDPSE itself is a mandatory government-issued registration that serves as an operating license for electronic system providers in Indonesia.

As of October 3, 2025, TikTok remained accessible in Indonesia despite the suspension.
