Indonesia's state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) has announced it is preparing aircraft parking facilities at several of its airports for Middle Eastern airlines amid ongoing regional geopolitical tensions.
Deputy President Director Achmad Syahir made the announcement at a press conference held at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on March 11, 2026, noting that flight operations remain highly dynamic and can shift at any time depending on security conditions in destination countries.
InJourney President Director Maya Watono acknowledged that the current geopolitical situation was not factored into the company's 2026 business planning, calling it an unexpected global phenomenon. In response, InJourney Airports has readied parking stands at several airports under its management to accommodate international carriers, particularly those from the Middle East navigating the current crisis.
Airlines identified as potential users of these parking facilities include Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Qatar Airways. The aircraft are expected to be parked at Indonesian airports with adequate capacity, namely Lombok's Zainuddin Abdul Madjid Airport and Kertajati International Airport in West Java.
InJourney Airports, formed from the 2024 merger of Angkasa Pura I and II, currently manages 37 airports across Indonesia and handles around 172 million passengers annually, making it the fifth-largest airport operator in the world. The move reflects the company's agility in responding to global disruptions while positioning Indonesia's regional airports as reliable international aviation partners.
