The Asia–Pacific region faces a critical aviation workforce shortage that will require massive recruitment efforts over the next two decades.
According to Airbus projections, the Asia–Pacific region will need 999,000 new skilled aviation professionals over the next 20 years, comprising 268,000 new pilots, 298,000 new technicians and 433,000 new cabin crew members.
This represents nearly 45% of the global manpower demand, highlighting the region's dominance in aviation growth and its urgent need for skilled personnel.
The global demand for new pilots is exceptionally high compared to existing pilot numbers, with Asia–Pacific expected to need the most new pilots, creating significant challenges for airlines worldwide.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has been actively addressing this shortage of skilled aviation professionals, working with member states and industry stakeholders to develop solutions for this critical workforce gap.
