Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri officially delivered the Multipurpose Combat Ship KRI Brawijaya-320 to the Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL) on July 2, 2025, at their Muggiano shipyard in La Spezia, with Chief of Indonesian Navy Admiral Muhammad Ali attending the ceremony.
The 143-meter warship departed Italy on July 30, 2025, and is expected to arrive at Surabaya naval base in September 2025, marking Indonesia's acquisition of one of Southeast Asia's most advanced naval vessels.
Part of a €1.18 billion contract signed in March 2024, the KRI Brawijaya-320 can exceed speeds of 31 knots, accommodates 171 crew members, and features combined diesel and gas turbine propulsion systems with electric propulsion capabilities.
Indonesia secured $1.25 billion funding from European financial institutions in late 2024 to acquire two Thaon di Revel-class patrol vessels, with the second ship KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 scheduled for delivery in December 2025.
The highly versatile MPCS is designed for frontline combat operations, maritime patrol, rescue missions, and civil protection activities, significantly enhancing the Indonesian Navy's operational capabilities in regional waters.
