Viet Nam's Phu Quoc Island has surpassed Indonesia's Bali to claim the top position as Asia's most beautiful island according to Condé Nast Traveler's annual Readers' Choice Awards, scoring an impressive 95.51 points—a 0.15-point increase from the previous year—while Bali, which held the number one spot last year, dropped significantly to sixth place behind Malaysia's Langkawi, Thailand's Koh Samui, and the Philippines' Boracay and Palawan.
The recognition comes as Phu Quoc experiences a remarkable tourism boom, with the island welcoming 1.2 million foreign arrivals between January and September this year, representing a substantial 65.8% year-on-year increase and already surpassing the annual target of 1 million international visitors set for 2024.
According to An Giang Province's Department of Tourism, Phu Quoc has received a total of 6.5 million visitors including both domestic and international travelers so far this year, already exceeding last year's complete annual figure of 5.9 million visitors and solidifying the island's status as a bright spot in Viet Nam's tourism industry.
The prestigious ranking was determined through a comprehensive survey involving more than 757,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers worldwide, who shared their evaluations and experiences across various travel categories including cities, islands, hotels, resorts, cruise ships, spas, and airlines.
The Readers' Choice Awards, recognized as the longest-running recognition program in the global travel industry, annually celebrates and honors excellence in hospitality, accommodation, and destinations around the world, making Phu Quoc's achievement particularly significant in establishing Viet Nam's competitive position within Asia's premium tourism market.
