Singapore Airlines and its budget carrier Scoot will launch new routes and increase existing flight frequencies beginning in August, filling gaps left by the exit of Qantas Airways' Jetstar Asia, which closes operations on July 31, 2025.

Scoot will launch four-times weekly flights to Okinawa and twice-weekly flights to Labuan Bajo during the Northern Winter 2025 season from October 26, 2025 to March 28, 2026, taking over both destinations that Jetstar Asia serves exclusively from Changi Airport.

The Singapore Airlines Group will create positions for retrenched Jetstar Asia employees across its airlines, including 100 jobs for pilots and 200 jobs for cabin crew, supporting over 500 Jetstar Asia employees affected by the airline's closure.

Jetstar Asia's exit will cut 16 routes, leaving four cities completely unserved including Broome Australia, Labuan Bajo Indonesia, Okinawa Japan, and Wuxi China, making Scoot's route takeover critical for maintaining connectivity.

The SIA Group has established dedicated application channels to streamline the hiring process for these workers, demonstrating strong industry commitment to retaining experienced aviation talent during this major airline transition.
