Singapore has been crowned the safest country in the world for walking alone at night, with an impressive 98 percent of adults reporting they feel secure during solo nighttime strolls, according to Gallup's 2025 Global Safety Report.

The comprehensive study by global research firm Gallup surveyed more than 145,000 people across 144 countries, examining critical safety indicators including trust in local police, experiences with theft or assault, and perceived safety when walking alone after dark.

Singapore's top ranking reflects the nation's effective policing systems, well-maintained urban infrastructure, and community-oriented approach to public safety, significantly outpacing other safe nations like Tajikistan at 95 percent, China at 94 percent, Oman at 94 percent, and Saudi Arabia at 93 percent.

The report also revealed that globally, 73 percent of adults now feel safe walking alone at night—a record high—despite the world currently experiencing the highest number of armed conflicts since World War II, though women consistently report feeling less secure than men across most countries surveyed.

This recognition validates Singapore's status as one of the world's most secure urban environments, where residents can confidently enjoy late-night activities from evening jogs along East Coast Park to post-midnight supper runs, underscoring the city-state's achievement in creating public spaces where personal safety concerns are minimal regardless of the hour.
