The Philippines' Inasal na Manok secured the title of Southeast Asia's best poultry dish by ranking 10th globally on TasteAtlas's "20 Best Chicken Dishes in the World" (November 2025) with a 4.5 rating, followed closely by Indonesia's Sate Ponorogo at 11th place with the same score.

Originating from Western Visayas, Philippines, Inasal na Manok features chicken marinated in vinegar, lemongrass, garlic, and ginger, then grilled while being brushed with annatto-infused oil that gives it an appetizing golden color and unique peppery flavor, traditionally served with annatto-flavored garlic rice and spiced vinegar.

The dish's cultural significance was officially recognized when the city of Bacolod declared it an important cultural property in 2022, cementing its status as the signature dish of the entire Western Visayas region.

Indonesia's Sate Ponorogo distinguishes itself through thinly sliced, elongated chicken pieces (rather than cubed), extended marination, traditional coconut charcoal grilling, and thick peanut sauce that's savory, sweet, and slightly spicy, with local vendor attributing the recognition to preserving ancestral recipes.

Both Southeast Asian chicken dishes demonstrate the region's culinary excellence in TasteAtlas's global ranking led by Türkiye's Pilic Topkapi (4.8), Morocco's Rfissa (4.7), and South Korea's Chikin (4.6), proving that traditional cooking methods and authentic local flavors can achieve international acclaim.
