Thailand has completed major upgrades to its sporting venues as the country prepares to host the 33rd Southeast Asian Games from December 9-20, 2025, and the 13th ASEAN Para Games from January 20-26, 2026, according to Dr. Gongsak Yodmani, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand.

Bangkok's Rajamangala National Stadium has received a significant transformation to accommodate the SEA Games' opening and closing ceremonies, while the 80th Birthday Stadium in Nakhon Ratchasima has undergone a major facelift for the ASEAN Para Games ceremonies, with no entirely new stadiums constructed for either tournament.

The SEA Games will feature competitions across three host cities—Bangkok, Chon Buri, and Songkhla—with Bangkok hosting 30 sports plus two demonstration sports and one value-creating sport, Chon Buri accommodating 19 sports and one demonstration sport, and Songkhla holding 10 sports including football matches that will extend to Chiang Mai.

The ASEAN Para Games in Nakhon Ratchasima will showcase 19 Paralympic sports including archery, athletics, swimming, wheelchair basketball, and goalball, with the bowling competition taking place separately in Bangkok.

Sports ranging from traditional Southeast Asian disciplines like sepak takraw, muay, and pencak silat to modern competitions including esports, extreme sports, and mixed martial arts will be featured, demonstrating the region's diverse athletic culture and Thailand's enhanced infrastructure capabilities for hosting major international sporting events.
