A new direct flight route between Guangzhou, China, and Surabaya, Indonesia, has officially launched, strengthening travel and economic ties between the two cities.
Operated by China Southern Airlines, the inaugural flight departed from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and arrived at Juanda International Airport in Surabaya after a five-hour and 40-minute journey, where it was welcomed with a grand water salute, cultural performances, and souvenirs celebrating the friendship between the two nations.
This Airbus A321 service will run four times a week in both directions, with flights from Guangzhou operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while return flights from Surabaya will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Wang Hongxiong, General Manager of China Southern Airlines Jakarta Branch, highlighted that beyond making travel more convenient, the new route is expected to boost trade, tourism, and cultural exchange, fostering deeper cooperation between China and Indonesia.
