SBS will be co-producing an Indonesian version of “Running Man”!
A deal memo signing between SBS and Indonesian enterprise FCL took place on November 29 at the SBS headquarters in Seoul for season one of the Indonesian version of “Running Man.”
FCL, an investment company for Indonesian conglomerate Sinar Mas Group, Indonesia’s No. 4 financial company, and works on OTT (over-the-top media services), content production, and distribution.
The first season of Indonesia’s “Running Man” will be produced with the goal of premiering in the middle of 2020 on Indonesian major networks and OTT.
This comes at the heels of the success of the Vietnamese version of “Running Man,” which premiered in April. Indonesia is now the third country outside of Korea to air its own version of “Running Man” after China and Vietnam.
As the most populous Southeast Asian country, Indonesia will play a key role in the future extension of the Korean Wave in this region.
SBS Global Contents biz Team Leader Kim Yong Jae said, “SBS has officially entered Southeast Asia’s largest market of Indonesia after China and Vietnam.
Since we entered after three years of research and investigation, we will succeed no matter what and work hard to contribute to the expansion of Hallyu.” Jimmy Kim, the CEO of FCL’s OTT brand Genflix, stated, ” I expect ‘Running Man’ Indonesia to make a big wave through OTT, which is quickly rising in Indonesia, and the new attempt of combining OTT and broadcasting.”
“Running Man” Indonesia will also work on a content commerce business through its partnership with Indonesia’s No. 1 e-commerce brand Tokopedia.
SBS is also in discussion to premiere “Fantastic Duo” on MNC TV and to co-produce “Good Friends” (literal title) to air on Indonesia’s No. 2 broadcasting channel SCTV in the first half of 2020.
