Indonesia proudly unveiled the curtains of the International Motor Show (IIMS) at Jiexpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, creating a spectacular stage for automotive enthusiasts. The event, held from Thursday, February 15th to February 25th, invites over 20 automobile manufacturers to participate, offering an unforgettable experience for vehicle enthusiasts.
A lineup of prominent names from Japan, such as Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, and others, joins the exhibition, competing to captivate visitors with their latest innovations. Hyundai from South Korea, which has established an electric car factory in Indonesia, along with BYD from China and VinFast from Vietnam, will also showcase their vehicles in the exhibition, adding vibrancy to the automotive competition.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) personally inaugurated the event. In his address, he emphasized the importance of electric vehicles in depicting the bright future of Indonesia's automotive industry, considering the country's abundant raw material resources for vehicle production.
During the event, Jokowi visited several automotive company booths, including VinFast, a private automotive startup from Vietnam. There, he signed one of VinFast's flagship products on display, the VF 5, which was later showcased to visitors. Moreover, Jokowi entered the driver's cabin of the VF 5 and tried his hand at the steering wheel, experiencing firsthand the driving experience with the car.
This annual event is appealing not only for showcasing various types of motorcycles and cars but also for providing consumers with the opportunity to directly test these units through test rides. Visitors can also enjoy various exciting programs, ranging from Test Drives, Test Rides, to EV Test Rides. Additionally, the event features various activities such as the Indonesia Offroad Federation (IOF), RC Adventure, International Automodified, PAHAMI Audio Contest, Special Guest Experience, PPMKI Car Display, and IIMS Community Experience.
Throughout the ten days, the event will be enlivened by various performances by renowned Indonesian musicians. With a tempting lineup, IIMS Infinite Live 2024 combines the excitement of the automotive world and the enjoyment of music into an epic experience.
