Changi Airport Shines Again: Wins Best Airport Immigration Service and Second-Best Baggage Delivery

Changi Airport in Singapore has once again received global attention, winning the World's Best Airport Immigration Service Award 2024 and ranking second for baggage delivery facilities, according to a passenger survey conducted by Skytrax, a UK-based air transport rating organization.

Changi is also the only airport in Southeast Asia to be ranked in the top two categories.

Changi Airport is already well known for its automated check-in process, its biometric authentication system, and its use of artificial intelligence for baggage handling. The airport is also known for its modern facilities, duty-free shopping, indoor rainforest and the world's tallest indoor waterfall.

Second on the list is Zurich Airport, followed by Bahrain International Airport, Incheon International Airport in South Korea, and Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan.

At the top of the baggage delivery category is Kansai Airport in Osaka, Japan. Since opening in September 1994, the airport has served 20 to 30 million passengers a year without any loss or damage to baggage.

Bahrain Airport, Bahrain, came third, followed by Doha Hamad, Qatar, and Nagoya Airport, Japan.

Skytrax compiled the list by conducting passenger satisfaction surveys from August 2023 to March 2024. The analysis was based on a variety of data points to assess the passenger experience.

In the Best Airport Immigration Services survey, analysts evaluated passenger experiences based on aspects such as waiting times, queuing systems, priority lanes, efficiency of e-gate systems, and responsiveness and courtesy of immigration staff.

Meanwhile, in the evaluation of baggage delivery facilities, the criteria included wait times at the baggage claim area, efficiency of delivery and responsiveness to lost baggage.
