Jollibee, a fast food restaurant from the Philippines known for its signature fried chicken, Chickenjoy, has become a sensation in the United States. The restaurant was recently named the best fast-food fried chicken in the USA Today 10Best poll.
Crowned as the "most outstanding fried chicken," Jollibee beat out well-known competitors such as Popeyes and Chick-fil-A, garnering the most votes from editors, readers and fast-food experts.
According to USA Today, Jollibee is the largest and fastest-growing Asian restaurant in the world. They are famous for their Chickenjoy, a signature fried chicken that comes in buckets or with sides, served with a creamy sauce.
After Jollibee, the Guatemalan chain Pollo Campero came in second, followed by Guthrie's Chicken in third. The rest of the list includes Huey Magoo's Chicken Tenders, Popeyes, Golden Chick, Chick-fil-A, Krispy Krunchy Chicken, Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken, and Bojangles.
Jollibee's journey began in the Philippines in 1978. Now, after more than four decades, Jollibee has grown significantly with more than 1,500 outlets worldwide. Of these, 1,150 are in the Philippines while the rest are spread across various countries such as Taiwan, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, United States, Italy, United Kingdom, and Spain.
The first Jollibee in the United States opened in 1998 in Daly City. Jollibee's popularity in the country has continued to grow, and its victory in the USA Today 10Best poll further solidifies its position as the best fast-food fried chicken.
