Indonesian National Team supporters went viral after the Sigma level of effort creating a mind-blowing choreography during a match against Japan in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers for the Asian Zone. Despite the match ending in a 0-4 defeat for the Garuda team, the supporters' creativity stole the spotlight.
The Wataru Endo teams may have conquered Jay Idzes's squad on the field, disheartening some fans' spirits and even a mood breaker for some. However, the iconic portrait Gundala VS Godzilla choreography turns out to be a mood lifter. Not only did it grab widespread attention, but it also received praise from the opposing team.
As a reminder, the Indonesian National Team is backed by two militant supporter groups known as Ultras Garuda and La Grande Indonesia. Just like King Indo's performance, the passionate performance of these two fans is always eagerly awaited to dominate any stadium wherever the national team plays.
Last Friday night (15/11/2024) La Grande delivered something extraordinary at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Senayan, Central Jakarta. They showcased the humongous choreography featuring Gundala VS Godzilla dominating the north tribune.
The astonishing display covered nearly the entire north side of the stadium. It showcased Gundala, Indonesia’s legendary superhero first introduced by Harya Suraminata in 1969, battling Godzilla, a fictional monster from the Japanese film series. Gundala’s signature lightning storm power was portrayed as he fought to defeat Godzilla.
Adding to the drama, the creators included the widely recognized lyrics "Untungnya, Ku Tak Pilih Menyerah" (translated as "Luckily, I Didn't Choose to Give Up") from the song "Untungnya, Hidup Harus Terus Berjalan," popularized by a rising Indonesian musician, Bernadya.
Based on the illustrator's statement, Aru, founder of @sultan_desain, explained that it took around a week to finalize this detailed masterpiece, which was shown in the 50-meter x 25-meter choreography.
One viral video on X, shared by the account @mengsanss, revealed that it took the local community about a month to handcraft the enormous and magnificent painting. Their hard work paid off, as the display fueled the Garuda team's enthusiasm during the match and gained international praise through its virality on social media.
Other videos from the La Grande Indonesia tribune section captured behind-the-scenes moments when pulling the choreography with all their might to unveil its greatness to the entire stadium, especially the Blue Samurai team.

Meanwhile, Ultras Garuda dominated their section in the south tribune with a head-to-head Indonesia vs Japan theme. Their choreography commemorated the Garuda team's historic 7-0 victory over Japan on August 11, 1968, during the Merdeka Cup in Malaysia. The massive choreography also included the phrase: "Don't Forget This. We Believe It Can Happen Again."
Although Japan’s national team impressed during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, leaving them earning the title as Asia's top team, Indonesia continues to shine in a different arena—through the unmatched creativity and dedication of their fans’ choreography.
