Iranian Embassy in Indonesia Denounces Israeli Attack as Blatant Aggression
His Excellency Mohammad Boroujerdi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia during the Press Conference (Seasia News)

The Islamic Republic of Iran Embassy in Indonesia held a press conference on June 17, 2025, to strongly condemn the unlawful attack by the Zionist regime on Iranian soil on June 13, 2025. The embassy expressed outrage over the blatant act of aggression, which targeted Iranian territory and resulted in significant damage. The Iranian government has vowed to take all necessary measures to respond to this attack, and the embassy emphasized Iran's right to self-defense and sovereignty. The embassy also called on the international community to condemn such acts of aggression and uphold the principles of international law. The press conference highlighted the gravity of the situation and the need for diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation in the region.

In this aggressive action, the Zionist regime attacked residential complexes, government buildings, defense infrastructure, transportation, and nuclear facilities in various cities in Iran. This attack not only caused widespread damage, but also killed a number of high-ranking commanders of the armed forces, scientists, university professors, as well as women and children. Furthermore, the regime expanded its attacks by targeting economic and public infrastructure such as oil refineries and oil product distribution centers.

This attack took place in a situation where the Islamic Republic of Iran was in the process of nuclear negotiations and had chosen the path of diplomacy and dialogue. Under the current conditions, the continuation of nuclear negotiations no longer has rational justification, and the party responsible for the termination of these negotiations is the regime that imposed an aggressive war on Iran.

Following the Zionist regime’s aggressive attack on our territory, the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on the principle of the right of self-defense, took a series of measures including missile retaliatory strikes on the regime’s military bases and targeting its economic facilities. Iran is determined to defend itself against aggression, and in view of the attacks on the lives and property of innocent people across the country, public opinion also demands resistance to the aggressor.

The Zionist regime justifies its military attack under the pretext of “preemptive defense” and claims to prevent an imminent threat. However, such a concept is unacceptable within the framework of international law and the UN Charter, and is a clear violation of the principle of the prohibition of the use of force in Article 2 (4) of the UN Charter. The Islamic Republic of Iran, based on Article 51 of the UN Charter, has the right to defend itself.

The Zionist regime’s armed and illegal attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran is not only an attack on Iran, but also an attack on the entire United Nations system and a serious threat to international peace and security. Therefore, the UN Security Council must intervene and take the necessary steps to stop this aggression.

The Zionist regime's aggression against Iranian territory must be seen in a broader context, namely as part of decades of violations of law and norms by this occupying regime in the Palestinian territories, Gaza, and Lebanon. These actions reflect repeated violations of international law and norms, including humanitarian law and human rights. The aggression against the people and sovereignty of Iran is not the first aggressive act by this regime, nor will it be the last.

All Muslims must be aware that the Zionist regime, by dividing the Muslim ummah, seeks to realize its expansionist ambitions through the destruction of neighboring countries and genocide against Muslims. The negative political and economic impacts of these ambitious actions will be felt by all countries in the world, including Indonesia.

Moving the battlefield to the Persian Gulf region is a major strategic mistake that may have been made intentionally, with the aim of expanding the war beyond Iran. The Persian Gulf is a very sensitive and complex region, and any military change there could involve the entire region, even the world. The Zionist regime has started this action since yesterday, and we expect the international community to act immediately to stop this crime and aggression.

His Excellency Mohammad Boroujerdi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia gave interview to Indonesian media journalists in Jakarta on June 17, 2025

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Jakarta expresses its gratitude to the esteemed Indonesian government, foreign embassies, Islamic organizations, political, cultural, Islamic figures, and academics of Indonesia who have condemned this aggressive action by sending wreaths and condolences. We call on the Indonesian media to support peace and law enforcement, and end the decades-long crimes by the Zionist regime against Muslims and the region, and reflect the sympathy of the Muslim community towards the Iranian people.

Support from the political, cultural and academic elites, as well as the media of Muslim countries, in this situation can prevent the expansion of the Zionist regime's aggression in the region and its oppression of Muslim countries.

The Iran-Israel conflict has escalated dramatically, with both nations engaging in direct military strikes since Israel first launched airstrikes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities and senior military officials. The attack was prompting Iran to launch a large-scale retaliatory attack, codenamed "Operation True Promise III," involving over 150 ballistic missiles and 100 drones targeting military and intelligence sites across Israel. The conflict has resulted in significant damage and civilian casualties, with Iran reporting over 224 deaths and Israel confirming 24 fatalities. Despite Israel's air superiority and interception of many Iranian missiles, the situation remains dire, with both sides ramping up military readiness and the possibility of a broader regional conflict looming large. Diplomatic efforts are underway to prevent further escalation, but the situation remains volatile.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Embassy in Indonesia concluded its press conference by reiterating Iran's firm stance against the Zionist regime's aggression and emphasizing the country's right to self-defense. The embassy called on the international community to condemn such acts of aggression and uphold the principles of international law, highlighting the need for diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation in the region.

As the situation between Iran and Israel continues to unfold, the conflict has sparked widespread concern globally. The attack on June 13, 2025, has led to a significant escalation of tensions, with both sides exchanging rhetoric and military actions. The international community remains on high alert, with diplomatic efforts underway to prevent further escalation and promote a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The outcome of this situation remains uncertain, with potential implications for regional and global stability.
