Lion Air, holding the position as the largest carrier in Southeast Asia, boasts a seat volume of 3.2 million, marking an impressive 11% surge in capacity compared to May 2019. Following closely is AirAsia, securing the second-largest position with 2.5 million seats. However, AirAsia has experienced an 18% decline in capacity since May 2019.
In contrast, both Batik Air and Singapore Airlines have surpassed their 2019 capacity levels this month. Batik Air recorded a substantial 29% increase in capacity, while Singapore Airlines saw a commendable 17% rise.
In terms of absolute growth, Lion Air leads the pack, adding a significant 162,600 seats this month. Batik Air follows closely behind, expanding their capacity by 95,800 seats. Notably, Saudi Arabian Airlines achieved the highest percentage increase, with a remarkable 59% growth in May 2024.
