Pork Consumption in Southeast Asia, 2020

Vietnam has emerged as the leader in per capita pork consumption within Southeast Asia, according to data provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations for the year 2020. With a staggering 38.2 kilograms of pork consumed per person annually, Vietnam surpasses its regional counterparts by a considerable margin.

Following Vietnam's lead are Singapore and Myanmar, ranking second and third respectively in pork consumption. Singaporeans consume an average of 22 kilograms of pork per person annually, while Myanmar residents trail closely behind at 20.1 kilograms.

The prominence of pork consumption in Vietnam reflects not only dietary preferences but also cultural and economic factors deeply embedded within the nation's culinary landscape.
