Where Gen Z protests are rocking the world

Gen Z–led protests have emerged as a powerful global force, reshaping political conversations across continents. The data highlights how young people are increasingly at the forefront of mass mobilizations, using street protests and digital platforms to demand political reform, economic justice, and greater accountability from those in power.

Among the most prominent cases are Peru, Bangladesh, and Indonesia, which stand out as key hotspots of youth-driven unrest. In Peru, Gen Z has played a major role in sustained protests against political instability and governance crises.

Bangladesh has seen large-scale student and youth demonstrations centered on democratic rights and economic pressures. Indonesia, meanwhile, has experienced strong youth mobilization around policy reforms, labor issues, and democratic safeguards, reflecting Gen Z’s growing political awareness.

Beyond the top three, countries such as Morocco, Kenya, the Philippines, and Serbia show that this is not a regional phenomenon but a truly global trend. From Latin America to Africa and Southeast Asia, Gen Z is increasingly shaping the future of civic action, signaling that youth-led protests are likely to remain a defining feature of global politics in the years ahead.
