At just 15 years old, Filipino student Angelo Casimiro turned a simple daily activity—walking—into a way to charge your phone, thanks to a pair of self-made, energy-generating shoes.

Using a system of piezoelectric materials embedded in the soles, his invention captures kinetic energy from each step and converts it into usable electricity, enough to power small devices like mobile phones or flashlights.

Inspired by the challenges faced during typhoons and power outages in the Philippines, Angelo designed his shoes not just as a gadget, but as a life tool for communities with unreliable electricity access.

His project has earned recognition in global science fairs and online platforms, showcasing how young minds from developing nations are contributing real solutions to everyday problems through creativity and resourcefulness.
