A cargo ship carrying 2,500 VinFast electric vehicles (EVs) has arrived at Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta, Indonesia, marking a major step in the Vietnamese automaker’s expansion into Indonesia.
This shipment, the largest VinFast has sent to the country so far, includes right-hand drive models like the VF 3, VF e34, VF 5, and Nerio Green, all tailored to meet local regulations.
To support its growth, VinFast is investing $1 billion in infrastructure, including 100,000 EV charging units across Indonesia, with a focus on Java, and is also building an assembly plant in Subang, West Java, set to produce 50,000 units annually starting next year.
With this latest delivery aligning with the Eid al-Fitr or Lebaran holiday season—a peak time for car sales—VinFast is strengthening its market presence while also exploring renewable energy investments like wind and solar power to support Indonesia’s transition to green energy.
