AirAsia Indonesia is expanding its operations into India, aiming to enhance international connectivity and meet the growing demand for direct flights.
With India’s aviation sector booming and Indonesia attracting over 700,000 Indian tourists in 2023, the airline sees great potential in launching direct routes between major cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad to Jakarta and Bali.
The revised bilateral air service agreement between the two nations now allows airlines to operate up to 9,000 one-way seats per week, which could lead to nearly 50 weekly flights, significantly improving accessibility.
If successful, AirAsia Indonesia’s entry into the Indian market will not only boost tourism and business travel but also strengthen economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
