Indonesia and France are finalizing a potential deal that could see Jakarta add 12 more Rafale fighter jets to its growing air fleet, further deepening defense ties between the two nations.

The agreement would build on a previous order of 42 Rafale aircraft, signaling Indonesia’s continued commitment to modernizing its military with advanced multirole capabilities.

As part of a broader strategic partnership, the two countries are also discussing cooperation on submarines, artillery systems, and high-value economic sectors like EV batteries and critical minerals.

French and Indonesian officials view the expanded defense pact — valued at over $11 billion across sectors — as a cornerstone for long-term collaboration in regional security and technological development.
